What is faux painting?

Faux painting involves painting a surface to look like a material found in the natural world. It could be a wall painted to look like smooth, glassy marble, or maybe standard drywall painted to look exactly like wood. Whatever your desired outcome, it has to be done expertly or else the illusion falls flat.

What is decorative painting?

Decorative painting is the art of creating very specific finishes, adding texture, dimension, and sometimes even a sense of movement. While there are broad categories for different types of decorative finishes (like Marmorino or Venetian plaster, for example), each project is completely unique based on the style and effect you’re trying to achieve.

The faux and decorative painting process

Here’s how we do it.

1. We meet to discuss your goals.

Have something specific in mind? Tell us about it! Not sure what you want, beyond knowing that you want a specialized finish? No problem. We’ll share samples with you and photos of our work so that you can start narrowing down your favorite.

2. We’ll paint sample boards.

Remember, no two finishes are exactly alike. While picking a standard paint color can be done with a color swatch and a sample, a decorative or faux finish requires a totally different approach. We’ll actually paint sample boards for you to review so that you can see what your walls will look like. Want to change or modify the design? You won’t hurt our feelings! We want to be sure you’re thrilled with the results before we start.

3. We do the work!

Now comes the best part: bringing your art to life! Just like any painting service we offer, you can count on clear communication, scheduling, and careful work practices. We want you to love the whole process, not just the results.
