HOA and Property Manager Interview Questions for Professional Painters

November 11, 2019

If you’re a property or HOA manager, then you know that the decisions you make are not solely your own. Any regulation you set in place or service provider you hire will have a direct impact on the people under your guidance and supervision.

You already know it is vital that you make an informed decision when hiring services for your properties. What you may not know are the most effective questions for vetting service providers and identifying the right person for your job.

Here are eight HOA or property manager interview questions that should be asked.

1. How flexible is your schedule?

If you have tenants who need to move into homes quickly, you know the last thing they want is to wait for their apartment to be repainted.

When your tenants are already taking off work and enlisting friends and relatives to help them move into a new space, a benevolent property manager will work to ensure that their space is completely ready before they move in. Keeping a tenant waiting too long may drive them to look elsewhere.

Since new apartments to be painted may crop up sporadically, be sure that the interior painting service you hire has the kind of flexibility that will match the needs of your association.

2. How long will the job take?

Be sure that your interior home painting services can be provided in a timely manner. You want to be able to give tenants a reliable time frame for move-in dates and retouches on their apartment.

3. Does your work come with a warranty?

When you’re juggling a number of different units and properties, there is a good chance you may not catch mistakes right away. If one of your tenants discovers inadequacy later on, it is important that your painting service has a proper warranty to guarantee the quality of their work.

4. Are your workers insured by workers’ compensation?

Particularly if you are hiring workers for exterior home painting , some painting jobs could be somewhat dangerous. Be sure that you are not liable for any injuries that may be incurred while completing a job on your property and that any injured employees will be sufficiently cared for by their employers.

5. How do you prepare a room for painting?

Service providers that complete mass quantities of projects at a time are notorious for sloppy preparation of painting spaces. Outlets get smudged with paint, and pieces of tape and debris may get painted onto walls. In other words, the jobs are sloppy.

Be sure that you have a clear idea of how rooms will be prepared for the service and talk to your provider to account for what you can expect of their service.

6. What are your clean-up procedures?

Similar to the aforementioned preparation process, it is also important to know how the job will be cleaned up when it’s finished. Be sure to have in writing exactly how the company plans to return the space to how they found it, so that they are accountable in case they case damage or leave a mess behind.

7. Do you have verifiable reviews of your services?

Be sure that you are able to locate reviews of their work that you can verify. If the only evaluations of their services come directly for their website, you may not be getting the whole story.

Ask your potential service provider about a list of previous customers who can vouch for their quality of work. If they cannot, you may want to keep searching for someone who can.

8. How much will this cost?

This one is the kicker: How much is this going to cost? When you’re comparing painters, you must ensure that the painting service cost is within your budget. By interviewing multiple providers, you can gauge whose services may be worth more and whose rate is the most economical.

You may even find that you are able to leverage prices between service providers. By asking for multiple estimates, you may be able to negotiate the price and ensure you’re getting the best deal for your money.

A lot of people rely on you to make the right choice of service provider, and you may endure a massive debacle if you make the wrong choice. The folks at ELCO Painting are trusted professionals with storied careers of success and happy customers.

Fall in Rhode Island is more than pumpkin patches and football weekends (to be clear, it is definitely mostly about that). But it’s also prime time for painting. The air is dry, the temperatures are steady, and the sun isn’t scorching your siding. It’s basically nature’s invitation to tackle projects you’ve been putting off. From exterior touch-ups to an interior refresh before the holidays, fall gives homeowners that rare combination of good weather and motivation, and that’s worth taking advantage of. Ready to grab a brush (or at least a plan) and get a few things checked off before the frost sets in? Consider this article your first line item. Why Fall Is Ideal for Painting in Rhode Island Autumn weather in New England offers something that painters love: stability. It’s not too hot, not too humid, and rarely too cold. Paint adheres better, dries evenly, and doesn’t blister under direct sunlight like it can in midsummer. Cooler temps also mean painters, whether you or a professional crew, can work longer without racing the clock or baking under a high sun. Add in fewer bugs, drier air, and reduced pollen, and you’ve got the recipe for beautiful finishes inside and out.
